Tuscany Golf District

Set in the middle of the Italian peninsula, this area never ceases to amaze on account of its continually changing landscape which acts as a backdrop to an array of delightful places. From the jagged, sheer Apuane Alps set to the north of the Arno, to the Monte Amiata of volcanic origin to the evocative Argentario. Throughout Livorno and on the headland of Piombino, the coasts are steep and rocky, while tending to be longer, more uniform and sandy towards Lazio and in the northern part of Versilia.
Tuscany was the birthplace of the Etruscan civilization, which left here a rich heritage of funerary structures and objects; the region was then between the 14th and the 16th century the cradle of Humanism and Renaissance, movements that radically innovated the culture from the arts to science, from philosophy to architecture, leaving a profound, indelible mark on European civilization. Florence and Tuscany bear witness to the creative work of the great geniuses of that extraordinary historic period: Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarroti and Filippo Brunelleschi to mention just a few. Innumerable examples of Romanic art have been left over from the Medieval period. Several of the most emblematic are found in Florence (San Miniato al Monte and the Baptistery of St. John) and in Pisa (the Duomo, the bell tower, i.e. the well-known leaning tower, which dominates Pisa’s Piazza dei Miracoli). There are also numerous medieval centers with their characteristic tower-shaped houses such as those found in the delightful, small town of San Gimignano. Other institutional palaces worth note are the Palazzo Priori in Volterra. At the beginning of the 13th century, the Gothic style began to flourish in the region. The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, is the apogee of this style, as is the entire city of Siena which hosts, intact, a triumph of Gothic-Medieval architecture, from the Duomo to the enchanting palazzo of Piazza del Campo. In the province we find the small, charming towns of Montepulciano, Pienza and Carrara with its Duomo faced with the magnificent marble quarried from the area. The elegant villas and palaces erected in the 17th century enhance the region while, in accordance with a timeless tradition, the 20th century also boasts Tuscan painters of international repute such as the Livorno born painter Amedeo Modigliani.
A stay in Tuscany will let you enjoy not only astonishing golf courses, but also an inestimable artistic heritage and a gastronomy rich in traditional flavors and world-celebrated wines.
